Latex Care
Latex Care Guide
Latex is a beautiful material that deserves careful handling. With proper care, it will keep its deep gloss and strength for years.
Before Wearing
-
Inspect your garment for small tears or weak seams before dressing.
-
Use a dressing aid such as a silicone-based lubricant or pure talcum powder to help slide into the garment. Avoid oils or creams — they break down latex.
-
Be gentle. Remove jewelry and keep nails smooth to prevent snags.
-
Avoid metal contact. Copper, brass, and bronze can cause permanent stains.
While Wearing
-
Keep away from oils and perfumes. These can damage the surface.
-
Avoid excessive heat or sunlight. Latex can fade and weaken with exposure.
-
Move carefully. Latex stretches, but sharp or sudden pulls can tear seams.
After Wearing
-
Rinse in lukewarm water — not hot.
-
Clean gently with a small amount of mild, fragrance-free soap or latex-specific cleaner.
-
Rinse thoroughly to remove all residue.
-
Dry naturally — hang or lay flat, away from direct sunlight or heat.
-
Polish if desired with a silicone-based latex shiner for a smooth, glossy finish.
Storage
-
Protect the surface. Dust with talc or lightly coat with silicone to prevent sticking.
-
Keep cool and dark. Store away from sunlight, heat, and fluorescent light.
-
Separate colors. Light latex can stain easily when stored against darker pieces.
-
Store properly. Use wide, padded hangers for larger garments; fold smaller items with tissue between layers.
Notes
-
Latex naturally ages over time. Proper care slows this process and preserves elasticity.
-
Avoid alcohol, acetone, petroleum, and other harsh substances.
-
Small damage can often be repaired with latex adhesive — or by a professional repair service.
